23 tracks? That's a lot of tracks. All crammed into 56 minutes? That's a lot of short tracks. Brand new for summer or 2001, "Down With The Ship" is the longest and also the most light hearted of the King Toad albums. Not much whining, not a whole lot of screaming. Lots of poppy, surreal, chirpy tunes, many clocking in at under 2 minutes. There are still a few grisly, death obsessed tracks for the morbid King Toad fan, and even a couple angry complainy songs for the angsty King Toad fan. But all in all, it is not a very serious album. My goal was to have good time recording, and the end result reflects that goal.

Written and recorded '99-'00 on my mini disc 4 track, this is the most aggressive, versatile, and, in my rabbit opinion, satisfying of the albums. Much less keyboard-heavy than "Skin Deep" or "Squashed". A bit more organic sounding. Lots of fast, short songs. If you're only going to own one King Toad album, this is the one to have. 45 minutes long.

Written and recorded in '97 & '98 on my mini-disk 4 track. An album full of fun-sounding songs with mean lyrics (with a few sad-sounding songs with sad lyrics). Plenty of drum loops, samples, keyboards and noise. Jamal sings in his low voice a lot. Released in '98, it was originally available only on crummy cassette tapes. However, it was later re-mastered and re-released on crummy compact disks in the summer of '00. 45 minutes long.

Written and recorded in '98 & '99 on the same 4 track. The most depressing of the three albums (to me, anyway). A little lighter on the mean, a little heavier on the sad. Still lots of samples and loops and all that. Songs have more of a "sound collage" feel to them than on "Squashed". Jamal opts to sing in his higher, louder voice more often. My least favorite of the albums, but most people's second favorite (after "How To Decompose"). Released in '99 on shiny-blue poor-butt CD's. 35 minutes long.
